Ashley Baylor is a pre-physical therapy student, caregiver advocate, and founder of Baylor Strong. When her father was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer, Baylor channeled her devastation into action. She created Baylor Strong, a community that gives families the emotional support and practical tools they need to care for a loved one without losing themselves in the process. Baylor Strong offers a subscription program with educational resources, therapeutic activities, and a community platform rooted in one simple conviction: No one should walk this road alone.
Solutions
Baylor knew she wanted to grow her vision, and that path led her to the Small Business Development Center, where she began working with advisor Karen Blackwell. Baylor came in looking to expand her offerings for caregivers of those fighting pancreatic cancer, and left with much more than she anticipated. Through the SBDC, Baylor was introduced to the SELF Cohort 3 program, an entrepreneur loan fund initiative sponsored by PCR Business Finance.
Results
Baylor was named a SELF Cohort 3 Participant Awardee, receiving funds to put the skills and knowledge from the program directly into her work. Today, Baylor Strong continues to grow, offering community support, educational resources, and therapeutic programming to families navigating pancreatic cancer.
With the new funding she received with help from the SELF Cohort, Baylor’s passion will continue to drive her mission of hope, strength, and empowerment for the families who need it most.
